Once in a while you see an article in the news and you shout out loud "At least somebody sees this the same way." I am sure a majority of the readers of this blog will agree with this. Or maybe it is just me but I have always thought that CNN really need to go the Fox News route and compete for the viewers that just tune in to Fox News to watch sexy women. Here is the article below and see if you did not think of this before.

What do you think? Please leave a comment. Please!

Sadly, Campbell Brown, who CNN fought to pull away from NBC two years ago, quit her show due to low and dropping ratings.

Campbell Brown, or "Cammy" as my friend and hers Michael Dowling likes to call her, was consider a catch for CNN at the time.

But, as I blogged in 2008, CNN wasn't using Brown's real asset and it's something Fox News would have done and NBC did do. Campbell Brown's legs would have been the best CNN ratings cure.

This is a problem that started back in 2008, with CNN getting clobbered by Fox News in the ratings even then, and that was the 2008 election. This is what I wrote at Zennie62, then:

As it stands, CNN's getting clobbered by Fox News in the ratings, except for when CNN has debates and it's Super Tuesday coverage, but other than that, it's Fox all the way. ...Now, I personally don't like CNN's biased reporting, covered by the "idea" that they're the best political reporting team and all that crap, but if Dave Bohrman and the rest of the CNN producers get their act together they're on to something.

I think a good place to start is with Campbell Brown....

I mean have you seen her legs?

Some readers got angry with my assertion at the time, but I pressed the point. Fox News was getting away with that strategy, mixing sexy female anchors with an edgy, opinionated take on the news. CNN resisted my claim, and also failed to emphasize the iReport format, but that's another blog post.

Now CNN's ratings slide is worse and Campbell Brown's gone.

Is it sad that Campbell Brown's legs may have saved her show? Yeah, it is. But the bottom line in television is viewers, time, and money. The key to success is to make people stop and watch for whatever reason. High-minded views on news and society are fine if they work; in this case they don't. CNN has to give people something to talk about: Men to look at and women to criticize. That's the game and CNN's not playing it.

CNN's under the impression it has to be conservative like Fox News. Not so. That's got nothing to do with it. Sex sells and people are animals. Period. The main driver of the reproductive process is attraction; it's silly to watch some try to take that fact out of society. No one ever wins by fighting nature. CNN should stop trying.

But hey, I made this case two years ago and CNN didn't get it then. Now, Campbell Brown's gone.

CNN is totally messed up, no two ways about it. But if you remember when Campbell first started that show she had the legs all the time. She had the tables that showed off her legs. Then for some reason it all stopped, they got the big tables and everything. Then she got pregnant and that didn't help. I don't think CNN not wanting to do legs was the difference. I think if Campbell wanted to show legs, then she would have. I think she got older, she had the second kid, something went strange in her mind and now she is here in the position that she is in. It is very strange and very sad because she had a chance for a big job and she settled for CNN, which is appearing to have been a really bad fit for her. I really wonder where she is going to end up now. I hope she doesn't stay at home and raise the kids.

This AM CB is co-hosting CNN news w/TJ Holmes.

The suits at CNN just don't get it?

They replaced Heidi Collins with that hag Kyra Philips.

Heidi has gorgeous gams and every time she tried to show em' off, the leg shot was ruined by bad camera angles and annoying graphics blocking the view.

When she did a stand up, the full length view of her legs was obscured by the chyron's and news ticker.

CNN has a fine roster of attractive ladies w/ great legs but they don't "show case" their talent like FOX.

Legs CAN improve ratings, for example on Fox & Friends leggy host Gretchen Carlson routinely flaunts her gorgeous gams and F&F is rated #1 in their time slot (6-9am). Suffice to say the guys aren't watching F&F to hear Doofus & Kilmead yucking it up and smirking.

Gretch is clearly THE star of the show.
She's hot..she knows it..and she WORKS it to the tune of HUGE ratings.

Perhaps CNN's ratings would improve if they "show cased" their talent instead of the news.

CNN likes to boast their THE most trusted name in news, but Fox is "The Best Damned Leg Show Period"!!!!

I still don't know how she was Miss America. Either the competition stunk that year or the judges were on drugs. Regardless she's done a lot with not much and through sheer force of will and dedication to wearing a skirt every single day regardless. But you forget, F&F already had great ratings and ED Hill was the trendsetter with showing massive amounts of legs. Gretchen didn't improve the ratings, she just continued them. Also she hasn't worn anything close to as short as what ED wore in her heyday. So don't get to thinking that Gretchen has done much. But I give her credit for sticking with it and getting better at her gorgeous newswomen-ness. When she was at CBS she wasn't all that remarkable. Basically she's done the opposite of Campbell.

Thank you Mr. Chairman for clearing that up. We really do forget about E.D Hill. I remember the short skirts she wore that would just drive you up the wall.

While on CNN, anybody seen Kate Bolduan at the Correspondence dinner. I seriously think that that is one of the babes that CNN is wasting. I did she is a correspondent but that never stops Fox from showcasing theirs (see Courtney Friel). I think they should make up a show talking about the news of the week and then just bring some correspondents to a couch. That will be a good show and that will surely be rating bait.

Kiran Chetry, Kate Bolduan on a couch anyone?

There are several talents being wasted. In fact, the departure of Lou Dobbs hurt as well because he had his bevy of babes who would show up as well. Kate B. is definitely one of them, plus Brooke Baldwin and Ines Ferre.
